DragonCon September 1-4th, 2006
Alan Tudyk, Summer Glau
I think this was before I hooked up with Tygie and ILJ and Keleos. I stayed with SUnderwood and his wife Nef from the OB. I had met them at the Atlantic City Shindig. They had their babygirl and her brother with them. This was also the one where Alan Tudyk read a fan written Euglogy to Wash and made changes/corrections as he went on to describe Wash as Sexy, Sexy, Sexy. Summer and Alan were both there.

I know that Saturday I went to see the DragonCon Parade because I have never missed. It’s my very favorite things aside from watching our BDHs. I think Jeb had a party at the Hyatt and it was good. All the years are merging and I can’t separate what happened when. I remember going back to our room and watching the Masquerade. I also attended the Shindig because I always go even if for a short time.
Oh and this was when I gave Alan Tudyk a scrapbook my sister Carol put together. She’s artsy. I collected a letter and pics from an Alan Tudyk fan site and I gave Alan the scrapbook displaying all that. He looked at it and said thanks. Alan always gets overwhelmed and tired at the Cons. Nathan seems to always get re-energized. This is the best. It was after Church on Sunday and I went to the autograph place for signatures and there was one line. I made my way to where the line was last time for Alan and Summer. The guard told me I couldn’t be there. If there was a line they would form it. I told him there will be a line. At that moment the line started to move to where I was. The majority of the people were there for Alan and Summer so they were being directed to a separate autograph line. It was awesome. The man had an amazed expression. That was priceless. That is all I can remember at this time.
San Francisco Browncoat Ball September 22-24, 2006
No Cast but an extraordinary experience the whole weekend was just wonderful. The San Francisco Browncoats worked their butts off and it showed. The schedule of events was as follows:
•Friday Night - An evening at Fanty & Mingo's
•Saturday Morning - Boat tour of the San Francisco Bay
•Saturday Night - The Browncoat Ball
•Sunday Morning - Chinatown excursion
I arrived for Fanty and Mingo's Friday Night with my sister Carol and her boyfriend. It was at the top of the Empress of China, 5th floor ballroom with wonderful views of the city, right in the heart of Chinatown. The Coit Tower was in my line of site with Chinese lanterns and many wonderful Browncoats well dressed in costumes or just nice clothes. The music was for the most part ballroom music, not sure what that is called. In between songs there would be quotes from Firefly. It was nice hearing our BDHs voices. There were many folks who knew how to dance so it was nice watching them. They also gave lessons to those interested. The food was great, several dishes on a lazysusan. There were waiters that came to serve us. It was all good food. I can't name all the dishes but it tasted great. The Burlesque Fan Dancer was very entertaining. I just kept thinking this is what she does for a living. I really enjoyed seeing folks I knew and meeting new Browncoats. Everyone looked fabulous and I really can't think how it could be better. I just remember looking around and saying to Saxon look what Joss did. He created this beautiful show that brought us together and here we are just celebrating because we can.
Saturday morning was the boat tour. It was a private tour at Pier 41 at 10:30am. We went all the way past the Golden Gate Bridge and then returned to the back side of Alcatraz. It was an hour and a half boat ride. The weather was perfect. I was afraid it would be too cold. After the boat ride we went our separate ways. It was Carol's boyfriend's first time in San Francisco so we showed him the sites. The Ball began at 7pm on Saturday. Since we went site-seeing we were a little late. I was really worried about how dressy everyone would be. Everyone was dressed in their best frippery. I felt like a princess in my dress and everyone looked grand. After dinner there was more dancing. I walked around to find friends and just take a better look at how everyone was dressed. Unfortunately it was after an hour that I arrived and had leave the ball to help Saxon with spotting the person who stole her daughter's bag. So this is where my story ends. But it was a real nice party up until the stealing.
I know there were many involved organizing this event but RayHill was the person I saw working the hardest and also having the most fun. It takes a lot of hard work to pull off such an event. My hats off to all San Francisco Browncoats involved. It more than lived up to what I was hoping for. It was the finest party I have been to and I highly recommend folks go to the next ball wherever it is. Here’s the linkhttp://browncoatball.com/2013/history/.
